Colombian

Colombia is one of the world’s most biologically diverse nations, second only to Brazil. Ecotourism is thus one of Colombia’s major attractions. Popular spots include Amacayacu Park, Bogotá Botanical Garden, and PANACA, a farming theme park that promotes contact between humans and nature. A 100,000 hectare national park was established in August 2007 to protect rare wildlife and indigenous peoples.

Colombia’s most important contemporary author is novelist Gabriel García Márquez, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982. In his most famous novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude, García Márquez popularized the form of literature known as magic realism by combining meticulous descriptions of Colombia’s social and political realities with elements of fantasy.
